Which cookies do we use?
In principle, we use cookies of the following categories:

Strictly Necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. Without these cookies, essential services would not work.

Functional cookies
These cookies enable a website to store information that has already been entered (such as usernames, configurations, language settings) and to offer the user improved, more personalised functions.

Performance cookies
These cookies are used to improve the usability of our website and therefore the user experience. They collect information about how our website is used, number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed. Performance cookies help us, for example, to identify which elements of the website are used most frequently and to further develop the website based on your needs.

Marketing cookies
These cookies are used to provide content that is more relevant to the user and tailored to their interests. They are also used to limit the frequency with which an advertisement appears and to measure and control the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They record whether or not you have visited a website and what content has been used. This is based on a unique identification of your browser as well as your internet device. The information may be shared with third parties, such as advertisers, so that you can be shown relevant advertising on other websites. These cookies are often linked to third party site functionality.

Analysis cookies
We also use so-called analysis cookies in connection with web analysis (see also the User Tracking section).

Storage period
Cookies can store files permanently or temporarily on your device.

So-called permanent cookies store a file on your end device for a certain period of time until a specified expiry date (or until you delete the cookie beforehand). This means that, for example, language settings are saved so that you do not have to enter them again for our website.

A so-called session cookie temporarily stores a session identifier while you are active on the website. This prevents you from having to log in again, for example, when you change pages. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or lose their validity as soon as your session has expired.

First or Third Party Cookies?

First Party Cookie
A first party cookie is a cookie that is set by a controller (or its processor).  We as the website operator  are the controller and thus responsible for data processing. We process the data collected from the cookie for our own purposes, regardless of whether we programmed the cookie itself or uses the cookie of a third party.

Third Party Cookie
A third party cookie is a cookie that is set by a third party that is not identical with the operator of the website currently visited by the user. Third party cookies come from various third party domains, which can use the cookies flexibly to track user behaviour on websites outside the third party provider's offering (in particular for user-specific advertising). When the user first visits a page on which the advertising network displays advertising, a third-party cookie may be stored on the user's computer as a result of the advertising present there. As a rule, the page visits and the respective duration of the user's stay are stored. If the user visits a page again on which the advertiser's advertising is also displayed, the advertiser can recognise the user on the basis of the cookie and, thanks to the information collected, offer him individual advertising from his own repertoire. The data collected from the cookie is processed by the third party for its own purposes under its own responsibility or under joint responsibility with us.

The information generated by the cookie about your use of this web site will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. However, due to the activation of the IP anonymisation "anonymizeIp()" on this platform, your IP address will be truncated beforehand by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the web site, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator.

So-called "captchas" are a security function of our website that determines whether a human or a computer is making a certain entry. We use the "reCAPTCHA" service from the provider of the Google Fonts, Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). When you visit a page with input options, we transmit information about your access to the reCAPTCHA service. • The IP address of your terminal device
  • Referrer (address of the Bastei Lübbe web site on which the captcha is used)
  • Information about the browser you are using (e.g. browser type and version, screen resolution, language, plugins installed, time and date)
  • If you are registered and logged in to Google, your Google account,
  • your surfing behaviour on web sites
  • Your input behaviour (e.g. your mouse movements on the reCAPTCHA areas)

AddThis
The Laser Engraving Company uses plug-ins from the AddThis  on its web site. The provider is AddThis LLC, 1595 Spring Hill Rd, Suite 300, Vienna, VA 22182, USA (hereinafter "AddThis"). In case of your consent, AddThis offers you the possibility to share the web site you have accessed with other internet users by e-mail or in social networks. You can recognise the plugins by the "Facebook", "Instagram" and "Twitter" buttons integrated on parts of our web site. In addition, AddThis provides us with tools to help analyse and improve the use of our web site or to enable direct user targeting.

In doing so, AddThis also uses cookies and web beacons (small graphics, "tracking pixels" that enable log file recording and log file analysis).

When you use an AddThis plugin, your internet browser establishes a direct connection with the servers of AddThis and, if applicable, the selected social network. The data generated in the process (such as time of use or browser language) is transmitted to AddThis and processed there. If you send content from our web site to social networks, a connection can be established between your visit to the web site and your user profile on the corresponding social network. Cookies used in connection with this tool have a storage period of up to 12 months.

Facebook Pixel
We use the Facebook pixel from Facebook a service of Facebook Inc, 1 Hacker Way in Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA.  on our web site. We have implemented a code for this on our web site. The Facebook pixel is a snippet of JavaScript code that loads a collection of functions that allow Facebook to track your user actions if you have come to our web site via Facebook ads. For example, when you purchase a product on our web site, the Facebook pixel is triggered and stores your actions on our web site in one or more cookies. These cookies allow Facebook to match your user data (customer data such as IP address, user ID) with your Facebook account data. Facebook then deletes this data again. The collected data is anonymous and not visible to us and can only be used in the context of ad placements. If you are a Facebook user and are logged in, your visit to our web site is automatically assigned to your Facebook user account.

We only want to show our services and products to people who are really interested in them. With the help of Facebook pixels, our advertising measures can be better tailored to your wishes and interests. In this way, Facebook users (provided they have allowed personalised advertising) see suitable advertising. Furthermore, Facebook uses the collected data for analysis purposes and its own advertisements. Cookies used in connection with this tool have a storage period of up to 12 months.
